I've got sensitive teeth. Does that mean that my teeth will hurt more when I get my braces?

I am getting my braces in 2 weeks time and am really worried!!

I have really sensitive teeth and was wondering if that will make the pain worse or if i will find having them in really sore?

Thanx...It really helps... :)

P.S.-How long did it take for yours to get put in?

Don't worry I suffer from extreme sensitivity too and once I had my braces fitted it didn't get any worse. The only problem I face now is that when I eat ice-cream the cold hangs around for a bit longer as the metal gets cold. But it's really not so bad.

It took about an hour for my braces to be fitted and they were a bit sore for a few days but I soon got used to them.

You should stock up on soft food like bananas and such for the few days after. In a way your teeth begin to adjust to the metal and just make sure you use sensitive toothpaste at least twice a day. It really helps.

Also before you get your braces fitted try to use products that build up tooth enamel as it will strengthen your teeth and help protect them while your braces are on.

Best of luck!
Reply:yes, i suggest brushing with sensidyne
Reply:There is also a ProEnamel toothpaste on sale. It will strengthen the surface of your teeth.
Reply:I would look into invisalign if your teeth are sensitive.

Not much more cost and you will be alot happier not having to deal with all the complications of braces.
Reply:Not necessary, if you use correct products for this kind of trouble (sensitive tooth) and have regular visits to your dentist, it's possible that you'll not have pain about this case. After your "brace time", you'll have less wrong contact of position between the teeth, and it'll help you to feel not more such a pain and sensibility.
Reply:if you have sensitive teeth go out and buy a sensitivity toothpaste. I suggest Crest prohealth, crest sensitivity or sensodyne toothpastes. Use those everyday and the sensitivity should stop or lessen. Braces will hurt but only while your teeth get used to the new adjustments.
